new season and final reductions...
There's a few more days
left of the sale before the new Spring Summer collections arrive in-store.
Final reductions of up to 75% off have just been made on all A/W Beyond
the Valley, Yuko Yoshitake, Life with Bird, Material by Product and
Pudel fashion items.
From Sat 9 Feb onwards, Spring/Summer
collections from a host of new brands including Mojo, Alejandra Quesada,
Ingvar Helgason and Anna Antonidas will be available at the Newburgh
Street store. Alongside will be our favourites Yuko Yoshitake, Call
of the Wild and Makin Jan Ma. Some of these items are here in very limited
quantities, so get in there quick.
Exhibitions in the Gallery space
also resume this month, with Resonate - a collaboration between music
collective Silent Studio and illustrator Si Scott. This event will see
the space transformed into an interactive music studio for 3 weeks.
Don't miss it.
We're also teaming up with Danish Vs. magazine for a huge party during
London Fashion Week, keep reading for more details...

New
in-store...ALEJANDRA
QUESADA
Debuting at Beyond the
Valley, Mexican born designer Alejandra Quesada has studied
at top fashion colleges around the world, including Central
St. Martins. She has also worked alongside top designers, namely
Alexander McQueen, for whom she designed their famous skull
print.
For this collection, inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead,
Alejandra mixes vivid colours, with intense lace designs on
collars and cuffs, and attention to detail with buttons and
bows. High waisted city shorts, contrast pastel suits and baby
doll dresses. The Mexican-esque ilustrations by artist Luis
Diaz Gordoa are also a perfect compliment to Quesada’s
collection.

New
in-store...WEAR
IT FOR THE BOYS
Another new label for the store,
this Danish knitwear label launched in Copenhagen last year.
This first collection by designer Rikke Jo has been created
to brighten up dark Scandinavian days, but we thought London
could do with a bit of lightening too.
Due to the nature of the collection, we only have limited
quantities of these pieces, which include, quite literally,
lumberwear (left) so you'll have to be quick off the mark
with this one.

New
in-store...ROBERT
ARCHARD
Our favourite biscuits have been recreated
by designer Robert Archard in a way that is as pleasing to the
eye as our waistlines.
Cast in white earthenware clay, these biscuit are actually
keepsake boxes, and are real size.
The range includes Custard Cream, Jammy Dodgers,
Pink Wafers and those chocolate ones you used to pull apart
and eat the filling from first.
A unique way to present your loved one with a little something
this Valentines day perhaps? How very subtle
of us.

New
in-store...WAYNE
CHISNALL
Another
new addition to the store, Wayne has worked across the creative
board from being a technical illustrator, to printmaking (winning
a couple of awards along the way), before moving into sculpture
and picking up a bursury from the Royal British Society of Sculptors.
The styles of his 2D and 3D work look to be polar opposites
but he's content with this and keeps him creatively balanced.
These 'Spidie Pods' prints caught our eye instantly, and are
perfect for the grown-up Marvel enthusiast.
Limited edition, hand-printed, 3 colour silk-screen prints on
acid-free, Somerset paper. 58 x 53 cm. Signed and numbered.

New
in-store...THE BIG DIPPER CANDLES
Big Dipper is an attention grabbing installation
by recent RCA graduate Sarah van Gameren. The machine itself dips
twenty-four chandeliers using the technique of candle making,
by rotating and lowering strung wick chandeliers periodically,
gradually building up layers of wax. After twelve hours, twenty-four
chandeliers are completed and a new cycle can begin.
We can't fit the machine in the store but we
do have five of these very limited chandelier candles available
now, and they are worth the investment.
Available in-store only for £85, on a first come first served
basis.

In the Gallery...SILENT STUDIO
18th Feb – 8th March
To
coincide with the UK launch of their new music-only service
Resonate, music and graphics company Silent Studios are temporarily
re-locating to the gallery space. From 18th February, they will
transform the gallery into a working music studio. With help
from a number of Resonate musicians, Silent Studios’ music
director Liam Paton aims to write and design a 30-minute musical
sound-scape at the venue.
Over the course of three weeks, visitors will be able to enter
the space, pick up headphones and hear the work in progress,
as the track is composed right in front of them. They will also
be able to view the inspiration behind the piece, a series of
six striking and intricately drawn posters by acclaimed illustrator
Si Scott.
Limited edition prints will be available for sale. The soundtrack
will be released on Resonate's label May 2008.

release for more details
